I wanted a cactus that would never suffer from forgotten watering, so here it is in fuse beads, with two neatly symmetrical arms and a little pink flower right on top. Work the grid from top to bottom: start with the flower, then the central stem and its two arms, and finish with the pot at the bottom of the board. I added a darker line down the centre of the cactus to mark the ribbing, just like a real one. The pot narrows toward the bottom, so follow that shape carefully so it reads as standing upright once it’s done. Once ironed, this little cactus makes a great bit of decor for a shelf or a desk — or tuck it into a mini flowerpot for a fun trompe-l’oeil touch.

Little house
A little house with a red roof and cream walls, a classic make for a single square pegboard.
