I couldn’t resist playing pirate for one pegboard! Start with the light wood of the domed lid and the chest body, then the dark metal bands wrapped around it — they’re what really gives the pattern its character. Build the golden padlock in the centre, bead by bead, with a tiny black bead for the keyhole and a red gem bead just above it. Don’t forget the gold coins spilling out over the sides of the lid, as if the treasure couldn’t fit inside any more! Work it symmetrically, bead for bead, to keep that domed lid nice and even. Once ironed, this chest makes a great decoration for a little pirate’s bedroom or a pirate-themed reading corner.
