I love watching swallows dart across the sky in spring, so I wanted to pay tribute to them with this mid-flight pattern. On the grid, start with the dark blue body in the centre, then spread the wings out on each side, following the slope closely — that’s what gives the feeling of movement. The small orange mark under the head and the white belly add a nice contrast, and the forked tail at the bottom finishes the pattern.
It’s a fairly wide design, so make sure your pegboard is well set up so you don’t lose any beads along the edges. Once ironed, this swallow is lovely hung near a window or added to a mobile, to welcome spring into the house.
