With its tiny spikes and a little nose peeking out to the side, this round hedgehog is one of my favourite beginner patterns. Place one bead per peg following the grid, and watch the back take shape in shades of brown before the lighter belly appears below. I’d recommend a classic square pegboard and a flat sheet of ironing paper — the spikes along the edges need a slightly firmer pass of the iron to fuse properly. Once it has cooled, peel it off gently: it makes an adorable fridge magnet or a sweet little decoration to hang up. A lovely one to make together with kids, who love counting every single spike!
