Star Wars in Fuse Beads: Our Selection for the Beaded Side of the Force

May the Force be with you — and with your beads! In our house, all it took was one rainy afternoon and a lightsaber-obsessed kid for the kitchen table to turn into a rebel base. Ever since, Star Wars has been a firm favourite for our fuse-bead sessions: the characters are wonderfully colourful, the shapes are bold, and pixel art is a perfect match for that galaxy far, far away. I’ve gathered more than fifteen designs here — some found through brilliant makers, some whipped up at home — to keep both little Padawans and nostalgic grown-ups busy.

Heroes of the galaxy

Let’s start on the light side of the Force. Master Yoda is the perfect first project: few colours, a face you’d recognise anywhere, and an adorable result once ironed. Luke, Leia, Han Solo and big friendly Chewbacca follow easily — their outfits lean on browns, beiges and white, shades you always have tucked away in the bead box.

Droids: R2-D2, BB-8 and friends

Droids are my favourites: their round shapes and blocks of bright colour (R2-D2’s blue, BB-8’s orange, C-3PO’s gold) make for crisp, cheerful designs. R2-D2 works beautifully on a square pegboard; for BB-8, I’ve drawn you a little homemade chart to follow directly, one bead per square.

The dark side has style

Let’s be honest: the villains often have the best designs. Darth Vader and his angular helmet are a treat in pixel art — lots of black, with a few touches of grey and red for the controls on his chest. Stormtroopers, meanwhile, are endlessly repeatable: once you’ve nailed the helmet chart, you can build a whole army!

Lightsabers and starships: the must-haves

You can’t talk Star Wars without a lightsaber! It’s actually the simplest design of the lot: a column of blue beads (or green, or red for the Sith) and a grey hilt. I’ve drawn a homemade chart for you to follow. As for ships, the X-Wing and the TIE fighter have lovely geometric silhouettes — great for practising straight lines.

A few tips before you dive in: keep large square pegboards handy for full-body characters and ships, always hold a good stash of black beads (Vader and outer space need plenty!), and iron gently to keep the colours nice and bright.
