I love this one for its texture: the scales come simply from alternating two shades of brown in a checkered pattern, row after row, which gives that striped look real pinecones have. The light blue background isn’t required — grey or white work just as well — but it really makes the warm tones pop.
When ironing, take it slow: the diagonal scale pattern needs a touch more care than a flat block of color, but it’s still an easy, beginner-friendly design. Hang it on a string by the door, or set it on a shelf next to real pinecones you picked up on a walk, for a cozy little autumn touch. A lovely one to make with the kids after a walk in the woods!
