I wanted something a bit more refined than my usual flowers, so I designed this orchid with star-shaped petals. On the chart, spot the speckled burgundy heart first: it’s what gives the flower its character, so place it first to centre the five petals around it properly. My tip: work the petals two by two, on each side at the same time, to keep the star nice and even. The green stem simply continues straight down, bead after bead. Once ironed (always with a grown-up, between two sheets of baking paper), this orchid makes a delicate decoration for a shelf, or a sweet little flowery card to give away.
