Oh, fruit! There’s nothing like it for bringing a splash of summer to your fuse bead creations all year round. In our house it’s the one theme everybody agrees on: the colours pop, the shapes are lovely and round, and you can dive in even as a total beginner. It’s hard to start anywhere but with the crowd-pleasers: the ones that win the kids over at first glance and come together in a single afternoon.

Watermelon, the beginner’s favourite

Honestly, if you could only make one, this would be it. The watermelon slice, with its pink-to-green fade and little black seeds, is perfect for a first project: only a handful of colours, a really simple layout and a result that looks fab. Our homemade grids to follow

Cherries

Two bright red cherries, their stalks meeting at a point and a little leaf: a quick and super satisfying make. Add a paler bead to each cherry for a glossy highlight.

Lemon slice

A yellow round, a white outline for the rind and a few paler beads to sketch the segments: your lemon is ready to zing up your summer décor.

Bunch of grapes

A few more purple beads, one or two darker ones for depth, and a green leaf on top: this bunch always makes a lovely impression.
