The leaves are falling, the evenings are drawing in, and a wonderful craving for spooky fun is creeping into the house — this is hands-down my favourite time of year to break out the bead box! At my place, the kitchen table turns into a tiny haunted workshop by mid-October, and the kids beg for pumpkins and ghosts on repeat. So today I have rounded up more than twelve Halloween fuse bead designs, gathered from all over the web and tried and tested at home. Grab your pegboards, we are about to make that board tremble!

Pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns: the undisputed stars

There is really no other place to start: the pumpkin is THE Halloween icon, and it also happens to be the easiest design for little hands. A round orange body, a little green stem, two triangle eyes and a gap-toothed grin — and there you go, your first lantern is born. Mix up the faces from one pumpkin to the next: some goofy, some downright creepy. Lined up together, they look fantastic.

Sweet little ghosts (not so scary after all)

The ghost is my absolute favourite: a handful of white beads, two black dots for eyes, and you have an adorable “Boo!” in under ten minutes. Picture it classic, mouth wide open, or give it a mischievous little smirk. Workshop secret: use glow-in-the-dark beads and your ghosts will shine once the lights go out — a guaranteed hit with the little ones.

Wonderfully spooky bats and spiders

To dress up a wall or a window, nothing beats a swarm of black bats! The design could not be simpler: a small body, two spread wings, and you are done. As for spiders, spin a nice grey or white web first, then drop the critter in the middle — a treat to make on a star or hexagon pegboard.

Witches, potions and spell books

Now we crank up the detail with the world of witches: pointy hats, bubbling cauldrons and potion bottles in zingy colours. Those little coloured bottles are perfect for using up all your leftover bead scraps, and they look amazing lined up on a shelf.

Silly skulls and skeletons

No Halloween is complete without a little “bones” touch! Skulls bead up in a flash and, once again, glow-in-the-dark beads make all the difference. You can even assemble a full jointed skeleton for a door decoration that really shows off.

Sweets and sugary treats

And because Halloween goes hand in hand with treats, let us finish on a sweet note with the sugary classics: the famous orange-and-yellow candy corn, swirly lollipops and other goodies. These are tiny designs, perfect for keeping eager hands busy before the trick-or-treat run.
