I love watching dragonflies dart over the pond in summer, so when it came time to pick today’s “nature” pattern, this one was an easy choice. I’ve drawn it standing tall, head at the top, with four pale-blue and mint-green wings spread out from the thorax, and a long segmented midnight-blue body running all the way down the board.
As always, one square on the grid equals one bead. Start with the head and thorax at the top, then add the wings on either side, and finish with the long segmented abdomen — it’s the longest part, but also the simplest, bead after bead in a straight line.
This pattern is taller than it is wide, so make sure your pegboard is well settled before sliding it under the ironing paper, so nothing shifts. Once finished, this dragonfly looks lovely hung in a window or slipped into a small frame.
