At our house, cartoon afternoons have a way of turning into fuse-bead afternoons ! All it took was one « Mum, can we make Bluey out of beads ? » to kick off a whole run of projects. Today I’m walking you through our favourite cartoon characters — every single one of them perfectly doable in Hama beads. Grab your pegboards, tip out the bead pot, and let’s craft along with the theme tune !
Bluey and Bingo, the Little Heelers Everyone Adores
There was really no other way to start ! These two blue-and-orange pups are a joy to bead : rounded shapes, bold flat colours and an adorable result, even for beginner hands. We followed the patterns shared by Frugal Fun for Boys and Girls first, then filled in with DIY Candy’s designs to get Bingo finished too.

SpongeBob and the Whole Bikini Bottom Gang
Television’s most famous yellow square is a gift for fuse beads : his rectangular shape fits on a single pegboard and those pop colours really sing. Once SpongeBob is done, it’s hard to resist adding Patrick, Squidward and Sandy to rebuild all of Bikini Bottom on the shelf.

Thanks to DIY Candy for this lovely set of patterns.
PAW Patrol, Ready to Save the Day in Beads
« No job is too big, no pup is too small ! » PAW Patrol fans are in for a treat : each pup has its own colour and helmet, which makes the whole series perfect for turning into keychains or little fridge magnets. Start with a favourite pup or two, and before long you’ll want the entire team !

Care Bears, All Soft Curves and Pastels
A sweet little trip down memory lane with the Care Bears ! Their belly badges — a heart, a rainbow, a sun — are the perfect excuse to dig into the pastel shades of your bead pot. Gentle, cuddly designs that are ideal for younger beaders just starting out.

The Simpsons, Yellow Pixel Art at Its Best
Springfield lands on your pegboards ! The Simpson family, with its flat yellow fills and instantly recognisable silhouettes, is a dream for beaded pixel art. Here are two grids to follow square by square — one square = one bead — spotted over at Pixel Art Shop. And if you fancy going 3D, this video shows a Homer being assembled in the round :

The Smurfs, Small but Mighty
We’ll finish with an all-blue classic : the Smurfs ! These French grids convert straight into Hama beads — one square = one bead. A lovely excuse for an across-the-generations session with grandparents, who grew up watching them on TV.

Thanks to Histoire de Perles for these grids.
Over to You !
That should keep you busy for a good few rainy afternoons ! And if you’re after more heroes to bead, take a look at our Disney selection and our Pixar designs to round out the collection. Above all, remember — the best pattern is always the one you make up together with the kids. Happy beading !
